Supporting your friends is something that should go without saying, but we have to say it. If your friend is starting a business, a new creative endeavor, or just making changes in life it’s vital that you support them. If you don’t, who will?
My biggest project has been my podcast CockTales: Dirty Discussions. Most of my friends support by listening and sharing the show on whatever platform they can. But throughout this journey I’ve had some who fall short. While it hasn’t discouraged me, it makes me wonder why so many people don’t take naturally to supporting projects that their friends are building. Some may think that their support isn’t a big deal in the grand scheme of things but it is import. Your network of friends is your core network. That’s how you kick off anything you do. If you have friends support them and if they are open, offer criticism to help them build. Even in supporting it’s important to talk to your friends because it’s likely they value your opinion and will be open to your thoughts. Try it and let me know how it works for the both of you.
My cohost has a project called “The Normelebrity Project”. With this she encourages people to support your friends the way you support celebrities that you know. It seems simple, and maybe you think you’re doing it by acknowledging their efforts. But do you buy their products? Do you help get the word out? Do you connect them to other people and brands that can really make a change in their overall growth? If you haven’t, it’s not too late. And if you have you can always do it again.
Please follow her project @normelebrity_project and leave a comment with your project or a friend’s project/business. Let’s challenge each other to to lift each other up.
